Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) is a simple, open protocol for creating censorship-resistant social networks.
When you create a Nostr account, you're generating a cryptographic key pair that becomes your unique, portable identity across the entire Nostr network.
Your Nostr identity consists of two keys:
Click the button below to generate your unique key pair. This happens entirely in your browser - we never see or store your keys on any server.
Your private key is the ONLY way to access your account. If you lose it, your account is gone forever. We cannot recover it for you.
How to store your private key:
• Write it down on paper and store it safely
• Use a password manager (recommended)
• Store it in an encrypted file
• NEVER share it or post it online
• NEVER enter it on websites you don't trust
Pick a nickname (nym) for your account. This will be stored in your Nostr profile (kind 0 metadata event) and will be visible to others in the network.
Your nickname will be published as a kind 0 metadata event to the Nostr network. You can change it later in settings.
